Our days in Buenos Aires

Palermo is most famous for its trendy atmosphere, vibrant street art, and its role as the city's art and fashion hub. When visiting Palermo, don't miss the beautiful parks like Bosques de Palermo, and the Palermo Soho and Hollywood neighborhoods for shopping and dining. We rented an airbnb in Soho and didn't regret our choice. It feels very safe, vibrant, trendy, with the best down to earth food and drink options. 

You will find the best options to shop between the to squares Plaza Serrano and  Plaza Inmigrantes de Armenia. It is a paradise for shopping for both women and men with very different brands from the ones available in Europe. We actually spent at least two afternoons here entering every small boutique and shop we could find. 

Coffee and Breakfast

There are numerous great cafes and restaurants here. Here are our top cafes with great flat whites and also quite nice breakfast options: Kahjué Cafe , Cafe Azul Tintico Cafe, Fauna Cafe y Flora and Piccolina Cafe (Update: Cafe Azul - our absolute favorite because of their magic flat white seems unfortunately to be closed.). 

Food

And our top selection of restaurants: 13 Fronteras (the most magic haute cuisine restaurant we visited during our South America travels), Julia Restaurante, Pain et Vin (our go to wine bar - with the greatest sharing platters), Aurelia Cantina.

What else to do?

Palermo is super famous for its street art. We went on the free walking tour - and it was great!

Recoleta is renowned for its upscale ambiance, historic architecture, and the famous Recoleta Cemetery, where Eva Perón (and many other famous people) is buried. While in Recoleta, be sure to explore the Plaza Francia and the cultural center at the Palais de Glace. Hidden gems include the lesser-known cemeteries, like the British Cemetery, and local cafes tucked away in the picturesque streets. 

San Nicolás, in the heart of Buenos Aires, is famous for being the central business district and the location of the iconic Teatro Colón. Don't miss the grandeur of the Teatro Colón and the impressive Obelisco on Avenida 9 de Julio. Hidden gems include the splendid architecture along Avenida Corrientes and the classic pizzerias serving delicious slices of pizza. 

Monserrat is famous for its historic significance, with the Casa Rosada, the Presidential Palace, being a major highlight. Visit the historic Plaza de Mayo and explore the Manzana de las Luces for a glimpse into Buenos Aires' colonial past. Hidden gems include the Barolo Palace with its unique architecture and the less-visited but stunning San Ignacio Church. 

San Telmo is most famous for its bohemian charm and the Sunday Feria de San Telmo, a bustling antiques market. While there, explore the cobblestone streets, visit the Plaza Dorrego, and enjoy tango performances in the streets. Hidden gems include the Pasaje La Defensa, an art-lined passage, and El Zanjón de Granados, an underground historic mansion. 

Puerto Madero is renowned for its modernity, upscale dining, and the iconic Puente de la Mujer footbridge. We didn't really like this district -it is super modern and touristic and lacks a bit of the charm of the otherwise stunning architectural mix of neoclassical, art nouveau and art deco.
